Terms. What a free reservation holds.
What holds between you and Kinspoken whenever you read these pages, reserve a gift, or leave your email so we can tell you when an edition opens.
Where Kinspoken stands today
Kinspoken has not launched. A reservation, like a request to hear when an edition opens, is free of charge and buys nothing.
What a reservation holds
A reservation keeps your place, along with the early-access price you were shown. It creates no contract and costs nothing, and you can cancel it simply by answering any email from us. Before your storyteller’s start date we send the final details, and that same early-access price waits for your yes.
The printable card is a greeting card to wrap. It is not a gift card; it carries no cash value and cannot be traded for money.
Nothing about the service is final yet: features, prices and the launch date can still move, and any move that touches you will reach you by email. If your storyteller cannot begin by March 31, 2027, we will tell you, and the reservation quietly ends with nothing owed on either side. Should Kinspoken never launch, we will tell you plainly and erase your information.
Early-access prices
A Year of Stories costs $149, the Family Edition $249, an extra hardcover $59 and Editor’s Read $99. Reserve before February 28, 2027 and these early-access prices are yours for 60 days after your storyteller’s language opens. A second, optional year is planned at $99. Any price printed on this site is the one we honor for reservations made while it is printed there.
When payments begin
Nothing is paid today. Once payments open:
- A full refund is yours within 30 days of paying, whatever the reason.
- If your storyteller stops early, we print whatever they recorded (there’s no minimum), or pause the year at no cost.
- Approve the final proof and we commit to a ship date; if that date slips, you may cancel for a full refund.
- Every paid order, any refundable deposit included, is handled under the FTC Mail, Internet, or Telephone Order Merchandise Rule.
- Books running past 240 pages are quoted before a single page is printed.
Translations are for family reading
Translations are AI-assisted, then checked by your family, and by a native-speaking editor when you add Editor’s Read. They are written for the kitchen table; immigration offices, courts and every other official use need something else.
Consent and recording
Only set up a storyteller who wants to take part. Every session opens with the interviewer saying it is automated and asking leave to record; the storyteller may decline, pass on any question or stop whenever they like. Upload other people’s recordings or photos only with their blessing, and never use Kinspoken to record anyone in secret.
Kinspoken is for grown-ups, and storytellers must be adults too. Should children take part in a recording, a parent must agree.
Where we can serve
In early access, calls go only to US and Canadian numbers, and books ship only to US addresses. Storytellers elsewhere may answer by voice note or web link wherever those work; WhatsApp is not offered to storytellers in Russia.
Because of US sanctions, storytellers in certain countries or regions, Cuba, Iran and the occupied areas of Ukraine among them, can join only after a legal check, and we may be unable to serve them. Payments from sanctioned jurisdictions are refused.
If Kinspoken closes
Should Kinspoken close, you would have at least 90 days’ notice and a full download of every recording, story and photo.
Liability
We offer this website just as you find it. Indirect losses sit outside what we answer for, wherever the law permits that limit. Consumer protection law keeps every right it gives you.
