Accessibility. For every reader and every listener.
A book of voices should be open to every reader and every listener. Our aim, measured page by page, is conformance level AA under the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines in their 2.2 revision.
How these pages are built
Every heading, list and landmark is built as proper markup. Text and controls carry the contrast the guidelines require, the focus ring is always in view, pictures come with text alternatives, and each form answers to the keyboard alone as readily as to a screen reader. Ask your device for less movement and the pages comply. There is no accessibility overlay widget on this site.
Three languages on one page
Each passage in Spanish, Russian or Ukrainian is marked with its language, so a screen reader changes its pronunciation, and every heritage-language line has its English beside it or just below.
Audio and transcripts
Nothing starts playing on its own. Every audio sample sits beside its transcript, in both languages. The voice-actor recordings are still being made; until they are, the transcripts are already here and the play buttons say so.
Movement on the page
Nothing here moves on its own: the rows of question themes under the first heading stay still, and switching a step or a language only swaps what is shown. With reduced motion on, even the short fades are switched off.
Known limitations
We are still mending these:
- The pages are in English for now; Spanish, Russian and Ukrainian appear in the samples and the questions.
- Language names in the request list, such as 한국어 or हिन्दी, are drawn in your device’s own fonts.
- Voice-actor recordings of the samples and the consent script are not published yet; their transcripts are.
